How to measure your pool
Volume is the foundation of pool care: dose chlorine, shock, acid, or stabilizer against the wrong volume and you will over- or under-treat. Measure length, width, and both the shallow and deep-end depths in feet. The calculator averages the two depths, then multiplies surface area by average depth and by 7.48 — the number of US gallons in one cubic foot.
Which shape should I pick?
- Rectangle: classic in-ground pools. Length × width.
- Round: above-ground pools measured by diameter (area = πr²).
- Oval: above-ground oval pools; area is the ellipse π × (L/2) × (W/2).
